crookuhs

So Crookers' debut album is finally released next week, with a massive release party in London this Saturday. If you've seen them play the last few months then the LP won't come as much of a surprise, but I can't help thinking if this album had been released a year or two ago it would've sounded vastly different. Having said that, it's a strong album and will hopefully gain them some more attention from the mainstream that only really knows them for that Kid Cudi song.
Talking of the most overplayed song in the history of the world, BeatauCue have come out with a new version. Yes that's right, another one. However, this one rips it out of the fact that it's overplayed and is bound to confuse people when it drops, I'll let you find out for yourself...... The BeatauCue rework is below, you can also listen to the original version of Hip Hop Changed which features Rye Rye, and grab the Busy P remix. Pre-order Tons Of Friends here and get some more free downloads.

For some bizarre reason, Alex Metric's Gorillaz remix isn't being given an official release. He played it on his radio show last night anyway though. You can listen to it in full right here, and wonder why Damon Albarn didn't like it....

die zef answer

Yes, I know they've been blogged about on every other blog ever by now most probably, but I really love Die Antwoord. They're like a mental fucked up SA version of The Lonely Island. The vocalists Ninja & Yo-Landi and beatmaster DJ Hi-Tek describe themselves as a "next level rap-rave krew" and that tag is pretty accurate.

With the bleepy beats of half the stuff around nowadays this almost comes across as a serious project, but just one listen to the weird, twisted lyrics (the non-Afrikaans ones I can understand anyway) soon gives away the fact that this group are more about shock value and humour than they are bringing a serious message from the mean streets of South Africa. However, they are not to simply be dismissed as a joke troupe- with the likes of Diplo supporting them, and their debut album $O$ due for release this month, the sound of the Zuid Afrikaanse streets is bound to spread to the world.

Below is their 'famous' song Beat Boy, as well as the super catchy Enter The Ninja- the video for which is brilliant.

Diplo Presents... The Ish

I always get a little bit excited when Mad Decent give away free stuff, and this time is no exception. Diplo Presents: Free Gucci  is a mixtape of remixes of Gucci Mane songs by knowns and unknowns. Even the artwork is amazing (done by the same guy who does the stuff for Major Lazer among others- Ferry Gouw). Up top is a song with one of the most familiar samples of all the tracks, and  below is the full version of my favourite track off the mixtape, Mumdance's take on I Be Everywhere. You can grab the mixtape in it's entirety here, it is well worth the listen.
